Celebrating a Powerful Partnership: Savage Jooste & Adams and POPUP Invest in Our Youth

The relationship between POPUP and Savage, Jooste & Adams (SJA) is best described as win-win. In many sectors, skills development is often viewed as merely a box-ticking exercise or a means to achieve BBBEE points. However, this has never been the case with SJA. Their commitment extends far beyond financial contributions. SJA has consistently welcomed our learners, not only funding numerous learnerships but also providing invaluable mentorship and development opportunities within the legal environment. This dedication has played a key role in talent pipeline development, leading to the appointment of many POPUP learners in skilled legislative positions, with some even having their law degrees sponsored by SJA. This partnership has truly transformed the lives of these learners and their families, showcasing the incredible impact that can be achieved when organisations come together to turn hope into reality.

The partnership between SJA and POPUP has flourished into an outstanding Enterprise Development initiative, making a significant impact on our community. On Mandela Day, SJA’s donation of blankets not only provided warmth to the homeless but also created an economic opportunity for POPUP learners. Working closely with our sewing team, Noreen expertly sourced materials and engaged the community in stitching 400 blankets. These blankets were then distributed to the homeless in Burgers Park and to newborns at Steve Biko Hospital, ensuring that even the most vulnerable felt the warmth of this thoughtful initiative.

This project is a perfect example of an ecosystem-driven effort to empower future generations and highlights the importance of collaborative partnerships in creating sustainable change. We hope more companies will join us in amplifying this impact, transforming small acts of kindness into monumental shifts in the lives of many.

Savage Jooste & Adams Centenary Rose – A Super Performer

Savage Jooste & Adams Centenary Rose – A Super Performer

Spring has arrived along with an exquisite bloom of SJA’s Centenary Rose which has attained a place as one of the “Roses of the Month” at the Rose Farm of Ludwig’s Roses.

The SJA rose was commissioned in 2019 to commemorate our firm’s 100 years in legal practice. In each perfectly shaped bloom, the striking colour juxtaposition of youthful red emerging from mature white so befittingly symbolises the core values of our esteemed legal firm.

 The timeless, crisp diamond-white, predominantly at the base of each petal, represents a solution-driven ethnic and tradition and the proven integrity of a 100-year-old law firm.

To counterbalance the mature and steadfast tradition, vibrant, youthful red emerges in the occasionally diamond-tipped petals, representing a passionate and enduring commitment to law and justice.

We are truly honoured to be able to enjoy its beauty with each passing spring ”

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela

This year Savage Jooste and Adams (“SJA”) supported SA Cares for Life with our annual Mandela Day Project, which we decided to combine with our annual Staff Spring Day celebrated on 1 September 2023. Our own staff and even some of our valued clients and counsel all participated in donating food, clothing, toys, toiletries and baby products, etc. towards this cause.

SJA also donated R 40,000.00 towards SA Cares for Life’s food security programme (Veg Project), which means they can now add a few more greenhouse tunnels to their project in order to grow their own vegetables to support the community. This project not only feeds the community but also helps to create job opportunities for those without an income.

SA Cares for Life’s key focus areas are:

  • Human Trafficking;
  • Rape Crisis;
  • Woman Abuse;
  • Health;
  • Community Development;
  • Water and Sanitation;
  • Poverty Alleviation;
  • Education;
  • Orphan Care;
  • Place of Safety;
  • Drug Abuse; and
  • Welfare.

Their food security programme has thus far fed 120 000 families, assisted 5000 children with their education, saved 620 children and provided 1500 families with clean running water. We at SJA are extremely proud to be part of such a wonderful initiative.
